SPRING CLEANING: Organise your closet in just a few steps

Hello girls, I know we are suppose to have some free time and enjoy ourselves in these sunny days around Easter but I thought that I should do something useful during this holiday- clean my closet. I have a big part of my clothes that I do not use, so it makes sense to get rid of them and free some space for new spring/summer 2014 to come in.

So the first step is to take everything out of your closet: clothes, jewellery and whatever else you might have there. Clean it up with some soap in order to remove all the dust and make it shine and smell nice again.

What I did next was to start sorting out the clothes, I divided them in three groups: things that I regularly wear and love, clothes that I wear not so often but I do not want to get rid of,yet, clothes that I have not worn for the past 1 year that I can give away or sell.

Then what I did was to organise all my 'definitely keep' items and make sure that they are all clean and in good condition. I usually like to sort my clothes by colour and type, of course. I always fold the jeans and most of the skirts and put them on one shelf (unless they are from sensitive material and needs ironing before I wear them). Then I put t-shirts and other tops that i have already ironed on another shelf- I hate when my clothes are not ironed...anyways, then I hang the rest of the clothes on hangers (make sure that you have good quality hangers so you can preserve your clothes). Finally, at the bottom of the closet you can place your shoes or I have my jewellery box.

I have 3 more groups of clothes to go. There are some items that I love but at the same time I am not ready to get rid of, yet. I actually reviewed them one more time and found out that there are things that I love but at the same time will not wear again any time soon so I better give them away to my sisters or sell them as the condition of the clothing was very good. The last group I just divided into GIVE AWAY and SELL. I gave a huge part to the RED CROSS and the rest I am planning to put on sale online.

You can also refresh your closet by adding some new items like new shoe boxes or hangers etc.

I know that a lot of you will think that this is something that you know, but I think it can give you a kick-ass start to get rid of all those unnecessary items in your closet and refresh it at the same time.

So don't be lazy and get to work!!

Yours,
Fashion Memos.
